All things speech

Braeden continues to receive speech therapy from our awesome therapist, Melissa.  He's doing lots of new things and I think it probably hasn't hurt that he started preschool.  On the eating front, things are pretty much the same old same old.  I can't wait for the day when Braeden feeds himself (don't worry, you will all be invited to a huge celebration!).  We have been working with a tool called a z-vibe for a while now.  Braeden goes through phases of love/hate with it.  I really shouldn't say love, because it's probably more of a tolerate/hate relationship.  We have two new attachments to go with it.  A spoon and a mouse.  I laughed when Melissa showed us the mouse because I thought that Braeden had to put the whole thing in his mouth!  He only has to chew on the ears.  The first week was a little rocky, but he is doing a lot better now and there's not as much fighting involved.  Here's a pic:

We have also been working on licking a lollipop.  He did it for Melissa, but then not for me.  So I have enlisted every child in sight to stand in front of him to encourage him to stick his tongue out and lick it.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to become everyone's favorite, carrying around a stash of Dum Dum's!

Braeden's doing pretty well in the communication department, too.  He might not have a huge vocabulary, but he definitely knows how to use the few words!
And communication isn't complete without a temper tantrum.  I know some people can't stand it when their child throws a fit over something, but personally, I relish it!  It means that Braeden has an opinion and he wants everyone to know it!  We can't wait for warmer weather so that we can be outside all of the time!
