Louisiana

In January, we went to Louisiana to run my third half marathon and Jon's very first half marathon.  It was also Braeden's first trip to Louisiana and LSU.  Exciting stuff!  We had a great time showing Braeden around LSU's campus and all the places Daddy used to hang out.  We stayed with the McKees (Jon's friends from Baton Rouge and the pastor that married us all those years ago), and it was so great to catch up with them.  We hadn't seen them since before we were pregnant with the little guy.  Braeden was loved on and played with by all the McKee kids (only two are still actually kids!).

Braeden's first (of many) trip to Louisiana

We arrived Thursday afternoon and settled into the McKee house.  On Friday, we were able to show Braeden around campus and had lunch with Kevin and Mary at The Chimes.  Braeden met Mike the Tiger right outside Tiger Stadium, but he was not all the impressed.  He called him Laney!

Saturday was more hanging out.  Sunday was our half marathon.  It was a great course from downtown BR through LSU's campus and back.  I ran a PR (2:04:35) and Jon had an awesome time for his first half marathon, too (1:42:53).  Although I was all smiles in the pic, I really felt like I was going to throw up!

On Monday, we packed up everyone (including three dogs) and headed out to the family farm outside of Covington, LA.  We had lots of fun riding on the tractor, fishing, mooing at the cows, and relaxing.  Look closely and you will see Braeden helping Kevin drive the tractor.  Big thanks to the McKees for the wonderful visit!
