Braeden is continuing to work hard with his feeding, even if he doesn't like doing it! We still don't feel like the appetite stimulant is working, as he still hasn't appeared hungry or eager to eat. We went to his pediatrician a week after seeing GI for a weight check, and I discussed my thoughts (and his speech therapist's thoughts) on Braeden having reflux. We were actually discussing the GI visit when Braeden burped, and I asked if she thought it sounded like he had reflux. She said yes, that it sounded like stuff might be coming up with it. (Mom, if you're reading this, I know I should be using "as though" instead of "like," but I don't want to do that) She prescribed some reflux medicine, so we are trying it for a month. I haven't started him on it yet, because we had just upped the dosage of the appetite stimulant. I wanted to make sure that we didn't start two things at once, so that if one of them did/didn't work, we would know which one. We are going to be starting him on the reflux medicine tomorrow. I've also noticed that when he gets the hiccups, they seem to be really juicy hiccups. Poor little guy! The weight check went great! He gained a pound in one week! Must be all the olive oil we are adding to his food. We'll take it! He finally broke 20 lbs. We are still keeping him backwards in his carseat until he is two.
Speech therapy-We are still trucking along and love, love, love our speech therapist! Last week, we were able to get him to chew and swallow little pieces of freeze dried strawberry. We are continuing to "brush" him, and speech says that she can already see a difference. Yey, because it's a pain in the rear to remember to do...especially if we're not at home! We've also been able to get him to much on some goldfish. He hasn't really swallowed them, but they sure did crack him up! He doesn't laugh like this anymore about the goldfish, so I'm glad I caught it on tape!
We have also been working on drinking from an open cup and a sippy cup. Sometimes he likes it, sometimes he doesn't. We'll keep trucking along. I swear one night he was swearing (in baby talk) at the sippy cup!
No correcting grammar here! I'm just glad to read about Braeden...heck with the "correctness" of it! Love the pumpkin photos...especially the one with Maggie.
